In the first part of this exclusive Underground Rome tour, your private guide will take you to St Clement’s Basilica, where you can discover archeological findings from Ancient Rome to the beginning of Christianity and the Middle Ages. Below the Basilica itself, you can visit an early-Christian church, which is one of the most interesting underground churches from the 4th century. After learning about the religious symbols of Ancient Rome, your tour guide will take you to the Roman houses in Celian Hill, which have been superbly restored and feature rare and beautiful wall paintings. Finally, you will visit Vicus Caprarius, which is an ancient site that dates back to Roman times. Here, you will discover an historic aqueduct, which has flowed almost continuously beneath the city since 19 BC.
