There are not many airports in the world that offer a cultural experience while you wait for your flight, but that’s not so for Naples International Airport, which, thanks to its archaeological exhibitions featuring marble and bronze statues, mosiacs, and antique masterpieces, has been named the best airport in Europe by the Airports Council International (in the 5 to 10 million passengers category).
Naples International Airport is one of the main airports in South Italy, serving 91 national and international destinations, and is frequently used by holidaymakers visiting Sorrento, Capri and the Amalfi Coast.
The popular airport fought off 500 other airports spread over 45 countries to claim the coverted award at a special ceremony in Paris on June 13th. Citing that Naples International Airport is an “excellent combination of smart management and touristic development of the territory”, the jury commended efforts at Naples International Airport to improve passenger experience with its unique “archaeological path” inside the airport, where travellers can admire enriching statues and mosaics. We can’t think of a better way to pass the time while waiting for your flight!
